BACKGROUND
1. Pursua nt to the provisions of subsection 23(1) of the Rental of Residentia l Property Act, the Commission is required to esta blish the a llowa blepercenta ge of rent increa se for 2022;
2. Pursuant to the provisions of subsection 23(2) of the Act, the Director of Residential Rental Property placed a notice in the print media inviting written representa tions from lessors and lessees to assist in establishing the annual prescribed percentage rent increase;
3. In setting the prescribed percenta ge rent increa se the Commission ha s considered representa tions received pursua nt to subsection 23(2) of the Act, the va ca ncy ra tes for the province, the economic outlook for the province and changes in the Consumer Price Index;
4. The Commission ha s determined the following ma ximum a llowa blerent increase to be justified for the period January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022;
The Commission Orders:
1. The allowable percentage rent increases for the period January 1, 2022 to
December 31, 2022, for all heated premises, unheated premises, and mobile home sites located in a mobile home park shall be one (1 %) percent.
